Recommended investor expectations for food and beverage

Ceres and PRI have published a sector strategy for the global food and beverage industry, outlining recommended investor expectations for actions companies must take to transition to a net zero economy.

The Global Sector Strategies: Recommended Investor Expectations for Food and Beverage is a guide for investor engagements with companies in the global food and beverage sector. Through Climate Action 100+ and more broadly, it will help investors to support companies to take the actions necessary to transition to a net zero global economy.

These investor expectations were developed by Ceres and PRI as part of the Global Sector Strategies, a new workstream coordinated by the investor networks that deliver Climate Action 100+.

The global food system is responsible for approximately one third of global anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions, with most of these coming from the supply chains of food and beverage companies. The sector’s unique challenges necessitate a specific engagement strategy focused on key actions companies can take to transition to a net zero global economy. To accelerate coordinated action across the value chain and address the sector’s unique challenges and opportunities, Ceres, PRI and Climate Action 100+ investors, in consultation with external sector experts and food and beverage companies, have outlined priority actions for individual companies, the broader industry, and investors.
